Malaysia and Indonesia have provisionally agreed to set up a reciprocal green lane travel corridor. This could save Malaysian medical tourism in 2021.
Under the system, Indonesian medical travellers could enter Malaysia without quarantine in Malaysia or on returning to Indonesia. PCR testing would probably be compulsory.
It is too early to suggest whether the agreement will hold; a similar deal with Singapore collapsed after several months of negotiation.
Most medical tourists to Malaysia are from Indonesia, so this deal could help Malaysia counter the loss of business from other countries.
