The Secretary of State for Health was asked (Hansard 25 February 1998 at column 262) how many secure mental health units there are in the United Kingdom; and how many patients are in each.Mr Boateng replied that there are 33 secure units in England with 1,504 places. This does not include the high security hospitals….
