Rise in local authorities using unregistered children’s homes

Ofsted has seen a steady rise in the number of potential unregistered children’s homes, opening more than 1,000 cases last year. Between April 2023 and March 2024, it opened 1,056 cases to investigate settings, which are illegal. This was up from 881 the year before. It found 931 of the settings last year were unregistered….
