Reframe Cancer has appointed Nikki Cannon as head of screening as it rolls out cancer screening services for some of the most common cancers.
Cannon (pictured) brings significant experience in cancer care across the NHS, third sector and private healthcare. Her previous roles include leading the transformation of personalised care and survivorship at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, and overseeing workforce engagement and policy at Macmillan Cancer Support, where she supported 10,000 professionals.
She will lead Reframe’s cancer screening proposition, which includes at-home tests for bowel, cervical and prostate cancer, in-clinic screening for lung and breast cancer, and app-based skin cancer screening. Screening results are followed up by one of Reframe’s cancer nurse specialists to assess whether further diagnostics are needed. The offer is available on a flexible basis to suit employers and insurers, including self-pay, partially or fully funded options, or as part of a flexible benefits package.
Cannon has also joined Reframe’s clinical advisory board, chaired by consultant clinical oncologist Dr Seema Dadhania. The board informs the company’s approach to care following its CQC registration and includes representatives from primary care, oncology and Macmillan Cancer Support.
Reframe Cancer CEO Mark Stephenson said: ‘Early detection and cancer screening is a vital component of tackling the rising UK cancer numbers, almost half of all cancer cases are diagnosed at stages 3 and 4 which is too late. Enabling greater access to cancer screening also supports the Long Term Plan set by the NHS which aims for the proportion of cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2 to rise from around half now to three-quarters of cancer patients by 2028. Offering cancer screening to insurers, employers and employees is a groundbreaking part of Reframe’s growth and something we have spearheaded since becoming CQC registered.’
