Optegra opens NHS cataract clinic in Nottingham

Eye care specialist Optegra has opened a new clinic in Nottingham, which will provide NHS cataract surgery for patients in and around the East Midlands.

The clinic is the latest in a series of new opening by the company aimed at capturing demand for NHS cataract surgery. It is equipped with the latest technology and, according to Optegra, will offer appointments within just four to six weeks of referral.

Optegra Eye Health Care NHS director Richard Armitage said: ‘Over the past 18 months we have been expanding the availability of our NHS cataract treatments by opening a series of new clinics around the country, and Nottingham is one of our key locations.  We are delighted to be supporting existing ophthalmic services in the area and working with the NHS to substantially reduce waiting times throughout the region.’

Consultant surgeon Lana Faraj will lead cataract surgery at the new site, supported by clinic manager Jess Stokes and optometrist Stephen Burge.
