New CEO at HCML

Apposite Capital-backed corporate health and specialist rehabilitation provider HCML has appointed James Murray as CEO.

Trained as a pharmacist, Murray has held a number of leadership roles in healthcare, most recently on the executive board of Nuffield Health where he was chief commercial officer and then chief customer and strategy officer.

Murray (pictured) takes over from Nick Delaney, who will remain with the business as a non-executive director. Since joining the business in November 2021, Delaney has taken revenue from £20m to £50m through a combination of organic growth and strategic M&A, including the acquisition of healthcare rm and CA Case Management.

He said that after achieving growth and diversification for the business over the last three years, now was the right time to ‘hand on the baton to the next generation of leadership’.

‘The appointment of someone of James’s quality is a fantastic coup for HCML and shows what an attractive business the HCML team has built. James will undoubtedly lead our people and our business to even greater heights,’ he added.

Commenting on his appointment, Murray said: ‘I’m delighted to have the opportunity to lead such a robust and dynamic healthcare business which I am confident will be doing great things in the years to come.’

Vishall Buldawoo

In a second senior hire, the company has also appointed Vish Buldawoo as managing director of its Corporate Health and Wellbeing arm. He joins from Centrica where he spent 11 years, more recently in senior leadership positions including HR director and leading benefits, pensions and health & wellbeing across the Group.

Having previously partnered strategically with HCML as a client, I have seen first-hand the positive impact this organisation has,’ said Buldawoo. ‘It is a privilege to work with so many dedicated, caring individuals whose focus is on health and wellbeing outcomes. As we move forward, I remain committed to ensuring that in my role I continue to support our business growth, our offering and expand our client base.’

Luke Osborne, senior partner at Compass Carter Osborne, advised on the appointment.
