Lamb launches plans to test company directors suitability for role

Responding to calls for increased accountability in the wake of the Winterbourne View (CCMn July 2011) and Mid Staffordshire scandals, Care Minister Norman Lamb has launched a consultation on proposals for directors of independent sector companies in charge of care homes and hospitals that allow neglect and abuse to take place to be held personally and criminally accountable for failures in care.
