New research from health assessment provider Bluecrest Wellness indicates that access to health MOTs is valued by employers as much as higher ticket health benefits such as PMI.
According to a survey of more than 2,000 people conducted for the company by Find Out Now, health assessments tied with support for private diagnosis and treatment for the top spot in the list of desirable health benefits, with both valued by 70% of respondents.
Bluecrest, which has reported a 42% jump in B2B and partnership revenue over the past year, said there had been a clear rise in demand for preventative health services.
‘People want to take charge of their health and get ahead of it – and they’re looking to workplaces to support them,’ said the company’s chief medical officer Dr Martin Thornton.
The primary reasons cited by employees who said they valued health assessments were peace of mind (61%) and early identification of health risks (60%), with cancer and heart health checks being the most requested (both 70%), followed by stroke risk (52%).
Bluecrest Wellness CEO Dominique Kent said: ‘This is crucial information for businesses, who are seeing an overall increase in demand for health benefits as a hygiene factor, but are struggling to make difficult budget choices.
The focus for health benefits to date has very much been on treatment. There’s been a gap both in terms of access, and in terms of prevention. We believe closing the first gap can be achieved by closing the second.’
Cashback on optician and dental visits was the second most desirable benefit, valued by 68% of respondents. This was followed by physio sessions (60%), mental health support (55%), and GP access (54%).
