Spire Harrogate Clinic has invested £3.5m in new MRI technology as part of efforts to expand its diagnostic services, offering up to 4,800 MRI appointments per year to patients across Yorkshire.
The investment enables same-day appointments where available and is aimed at reducing waiting times for diagnosis and treatment planning. The upgraded scanner uses AI to generate higher-quality images, supporting more accurate diagnoses across a range of specialties including orthopaedics, urology, neurology, general surgery and women’s health.
The new scanner also improves patient comfort, with a wider bore to accommodate more body types, reduced scan times, and in-scan features such as mood lighting and music.
Spire said the development marks a milestone in the expansion of its community clinic model, which complements its network of 38 hospitals across the UK. The Harrogate clinic opened in December 2024 and is part of a broader strategy to increase local access to diagnostic and outpatient services.
Hannah Whitaker, imaging manager at Spire Harrogate Clinic, said: ‘At Spire Healthcare, we are committed to providing our patients with fast, safe, and expert-led access to diagnosis when they need it. We understand that waiting for treatment can be stressful, so by offering same-day appointments, we can continue delivering the outstanding care that our community has come to expect from Spire Harrogate Clinic.’
