The Care Quality Commission (CQC) should focus less on inspections and ratings and engage more informally with providers to drive improvements, a King’s Fund report has said. Its study concluded that the regulator’s focus on ‘large, intensive but infrequent inspections’ may be impacting other regulatory activities that could help providers improve services in between visits….
